So, it begins. Plymouth Argyle appoint Laurent LeChance as their new manager for the season.

Will he prove to be the French magician in pre-season, or will he make an arse of himself?

Girls Names - The New Life

Belfast-based four-piece Girls Names are a singular proposition, both geographically and psychically removed from their contemporaries at home and abroad.

Released on 18th February, their second album The New Life is the sound of a band on the fringes striving to forge their own path, purposefully out of step - and time - with their surroundings.

Weighed heavy with the grey landscapes of their hometown, The New Life is isolation laid bare, shot through with an undeterred sense of purpose and individuality.

I was lucky enough to catch these guys playing at The Castle in Manchester - such a great atmosphere as the room was tiny yet packed full of people, all in awe at the sounds of Girls Names - it was a real pleasure being able to congratulate them as the show ended - it's always nice to see a band appreciate there fans.

Plus they had a couple of great support acts including Fruit Tones, a local Manchester band, who are quite literally a "super rock and roll supergroup" - it's the only way to describe them. Be sure to check them out by clicking here

Anyway, here are a couple of videos of Girls Names @ The Castle, Manchester - the audio may not be brilliant but I've tampered with it as best as I can! Enjoy....

The Office Returns!

Ricky Gervais has dusted off his polyester suit and retrimmed his beard into a goatee to bring back infamous boss David Brent.

After a decade off air, the hapless star of sitcom The Office has returned — and is aiming to become a Simon Cowell-type music mogul.

As part of a one-off special, the former general manager of Slough paper merchants Wernham-Hogg - famous for his “Fact” catchphrase — will be seen trying to break urban act Dom Johnson.

Lionel Messi On The El Classico!

The Barça number 10 has revealed: “The dynamic of competitive football doesn’t allow us to enjoy what this team is achieving, but maybe in the future it will be given the credit it deserves”

As far as the match against Real Madrid on Tuesday is concerned, Messi told us: “We have to be at our best against Real Madrid because otherwise we won’t get through the tie”

Leo Messi featured in the Barça TV programme ‘El Marcador’ after the game against Sevilla, where he spoke about the defeat away to AC Milan and Tuesday’s Copa del Rey return leg against Real Madrid in the Camp Nou. He insisted that the best way to prepare for the busy schedule of key matches coming up is not to hold himself back: “For years now I’ve been used to playing a lot of matches. My body feels better if it doesn’t rest”. The Argentine forward is the Spanish league’s top scorer with 38 goals, but he emphasised: “The most important thing is to win matches. If I can help with goals, then that’s always better”.

The Strokes - All The Time

So, here we have The Strokes debut single "All The Time" from their new upcoming album "Comedown Machine".

Described as having an "old school Strokes sound" - nobody can disagree with this statement. It has real energy, urgency and of course the catchiness we all love. Similar in ways to tracks like "Take It Or Leave It", "Electricityscape" and "Taken For A Fool".

It'll be interesting to hear how the other tracks compare - from what I've read we are to expect a very heavily electronic sounding album - similar to Julian's solo album "Phrases For The Young" - which I'm sure you'd agree can't be a bad thing!

If you haven't read the "Comedown Machine" track reviews yet, you can check them out here.

So, what does everybody make of All The Time? I'd love to hear what you all think in the comment box below...
